  • Assist with academic advising and vocational guidance.

Compensation Details:Starting Pay - $33.85

Work Hours: Office Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 7:00 pm; Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, varies based on work week and schedule with other Counselors.

Remote Eligible: This position is not eligible for remote work

Special Instructions to Applicant: This is a part-time position, with a maximum of 19.5 hrs. per week

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for providing counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, referrals, and individual and group educational and vocational guidance services to support student success and well-being.

Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Assists individuals in understanding and overcoming social, emotional, and developmental issues
  • Coordinates with campus police, faculty, administrators, and staff to provide crisis intervention, counseling, and referral services
  • Develops and presents wellness and student success seminars
  • Refers students to appropriate community resources as needed
  • Engages in research and follow-up activities to evaluate counseling techniques and outcomes
  • Assists with the academic advising process
  • Visits area high schools to conduct seminars, presentations, and disseminate college information as needed
  • Communicates, collaborates, and consults with faculty to promote student success
  • Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about individuals through records, assessments, interviews, and professional sources to evaluate interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics for vocational and educational planning
  • Compiles and analyzes occupational, educational, and economic information to assist counselees in establishing and achieving vocational and educational goals
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision

Works under the supervision of the assigned campus leader

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work, or related field
  • Three (3) years' working experience providing counseling
  • Currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Must hold an unrestricted mental health license in Texas
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least one (1) year’s professional working experience providing counseling in a higher education environment
  • At least one (1) year’s working experience in program development and implementation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of counseling principles, practices, and techniques related to individual and group counseling
  • Knowledge of educational, vocational, and student development resources and services
  • Knowledge of community resources, referral processes, and crisis intervention methods
  • Skilled in delivering high-quality customer service and building effective interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Skilled in conducting assessments, evaluating information, and developing appropriate recommendations and referrals
  • Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft 365 platform
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly, ensuring accurate and timely completion while exhibiting strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in collaborative environments, engaging with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where work demands are varied and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze information and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and applicable regulations
  • Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and tact, ensuring confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive information

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
