Atlas NextWave in New York City is seeking a Counsel / Senior Counsel to support its growing U.S. solar platform, focusing on utility-scale development through construction. You will work with senior stakeholders and an established international legal team.

You will draft, negotiate EPC agreements, advise on contractual risks, and assist with ITC eligibility and project financing as part of a collaborative legal function supporting development, commercial, and finance teams.

Qualifications

• Licensed in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar.
• 8-10+ years of legal experience.
• Experience drafting and negotiating EPC agreements.
• Familiarity with U.S. renewable energy tax credits, ITC requirements and safe harbor provisions.

Counsel / Senior Counsel - Renewable Energy (Solar), NYC

Location: New York City (Hybrid)

Position: Full-Time, Permanent

I'm partnering with a leading global energy and commodities business to appoint a Counsel / Senior Counsel to support its growing U.S. solar platform.

This is an opportunity to join an expanding renewable energy business focused on utility-scale solar development, providing legal support across projects from early-stage development through to construction. You will work closely with senior business stakeholders and an established U.S. and international legal team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal support across utility-scale solar projects, from development through to construction.
• Draft, develop and negotiate EPC agreements and other project-related commercial contracts.
• Advise on contractual and commercial risks, including performance guarantees, warranties, indemnities and liability provisions.
• Advise on U.S. renewable energy tax credits, particularly ITC eligibility, qualification, compliance and safe harbor requirements.
• Support project financing, M&A and investment-related matters alongside experienced legal colleagues.
• Work closely with development, commercial and finance teams to provide practical legal advice.

Key Requirements

• JD from a U.S. law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar.
• Approximately 8-10+ years of legal experience.
• Strong renewable energy experience, ideally within utility-scale solar development.
• Demonstrable experience drafting and negotiating EPC agreements.
• Familiarity with U.S. renewable energy tax credits, particularly ITC requirements and safe harbor provisions.
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to work collaboratively with business stakeholders and legal colleagues.
