Ladders is seeking a Counsel, Employment to join our team as a trusted legal partner for HR and global workforce. You will guide performance management, disciplinary actions, and leaves while ensuring compliance in a fast-moving, regulated environment.

The role also focuses on cross-border matters and AI use in HR workflows. The attorney will support employment agreements, litigation readiness, and advise on international employment issues in collaboration with local counsel and HR.

Qualifications

• J.D. with active U.S. state bar and 5+ years of employment law, in-house preferred.
• Experience with performance management, terminations, accommodations and leaves.
• Litigation experience including drafting statements and handling discovery.
• Familiarity with EEO-1 reporting and OFCCP; AI in HR compliance focus.
• Ability to use generative AI with human oversight.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Counsel, Employment to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will serve as a trusted legal partner to the people and HR functions, providing practical guidance on employment matters across a global workforce. The attorney will help shape performance management, disciplinary actions, accommodations, leaves, and other people-relations issues while supporting compliance in a fast-moving, highly regulated environment. This position also plays an important role in cross-border employment matters, employment litigation support, and the responsible use of AI in HR workflows. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $183,855 – $216,300 annually

Responsibilities

• Own a people-relations counseling portfolio, providing legal support on performance management and disciplinary processes
• Advise on international employment matters, collaborating with local counsel and HR on cross-border issues
• Support employment agreement workflows, including reviewing offer letters and separation agreements
• Drive compliance support for AI tool deployment in HR, ensuring adherence to legal frameworks and bias audit obligations
• Partner with the People team on HR compliance matters, contributing to the global compliance program
• Assist with employment litigation, including drafting EEOC statements and coordinating with outside counsel
• Track employment law developments and provide practical guidance for HR partners

Qualifications

• J.D. with active U.S. state bar membership and 5+ years of employment law experience, particularly in-house
• Strong experience in performance management, terminations, accommodations, and leaves; familiarity with hourly or customer experience populations is a plus
• Hands-on experience with employment litigation, including drafting position statements and managing discovery
• Knowledge of U.S. HR compliance requirements like EEO-1 reporting and OFCCP obligations, with a focus on AI and employment law
• Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly, ensuring human oversight for effective outcomes
