Ladders in Washington, DC, seeks an AI Counsel to act as a strategic legal partner on artificial intelligence matters, shaping compliant, practical approaches to privacy, governance, and regulatory risk. You will collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams to support AI systems in a business-critical environment.

This role will advise leadership on contracting, vendor risk, and broader legal issues tied to AI-enabled initiatives.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD), LLB, or equivalent legal degree.
• Minimum of 8 years of legal experience.
• Licensed member of the bar in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience with technology contracting and regulatory compliance, including working directly with technical teams.
• Substantial familiarity with AI and privacy laws and regulation, risk management, and governance; experience advising on these matters preferred.
• Strong drafting skills and keen attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead legal advisor on AI matters, including regulations, privacy, healthcare, and technology considerations
• Partner with product, engineering, data science, and privacy teams to embed legal compliance in AI systems
• Lead privacy and data governance support for AI initiatives, including privacy-by-design and data sharing
• Provide legal support for AI-related contracting and vendor management, including developing templates and evaluating risks
• Oversee AI risk assessments and support executive reviews for the AI governance program

For our client, we are seeking a AI Counsel to join the team of a leader in the Business Services space. This role will serve as a strategic legal partner on artificial intelligence matters, helping shape compliant, practical approaches to privacy, governance, and regulatory risk. The position will work closely with product, engineering, and data science teams to support the development and deployment of AI systems in a business-critical environment. You will also advise leadership on contracting, vendor risk, and broader legal issues tied to AI-enabled initiatives. Location: Washington, DC - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $200,000 – $230,000 annually
