Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a seasoned Couchbase DBA for remote work to lead database administration across production and non-production environments. You will design scalable architectures, manage cluster configuration, capacity planning, and ensure high availability and performance.

You will optimize SQL++, indexing, and queries while handling backups, DR and XDCR. The role requires 10+ years of experience and offers a competitive compensation package, with Cognizant's incentive program.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Couchbase database administration or similar role.
• Hands-on experience with cluster configuration, data modeling and HA/SCALING.
• Proficiency in SQL++ (N1QL), indexing, and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support Couchbase clusters across production and non-production environments.
• Design scalable Couchbase architectures, including cluster config, replication, and capacity planning.
• Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing tasks.
• Manage backup, recovery, DR, failover, and XDCR.
• Plan upgrades, patching, rebalancing, and maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Monitor health, resolve incidents, conduct RCA, and implement preventive measures.
• Implement RBAC, encryption, auditing, and security compliance.

Roles & Responsibilities

Manage and support Couchbase database clusters across production and non-production environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.

Design and implement scalable Couchbase database architectures, including cluster configuration, data modeling, replication, and capacity planning.

Perform database performance tuning, SQL++ (N1QL) query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting of database-related issues.

Manage database backup and recovery, disaster recovery (DR), failover, and Cross Data Center Replication (XDCR).

Plan and execute Couchbase upgrades, patching, cluster rebalancing, and database maintenance with minimal business disruption.

Monitor database health, resolve production incidents, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive measures.

Implement database security standards, including RBAC, encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements.

Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams on database architecture, migrations, automation, and performance optimization initiatives.

The annual salary for this position is between $73,350 $115,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and is subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
