Job summary

Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, TX is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) PRN to assist under supervision of an OT, helping patients with ADL, mobility, and exercise programs to restore function.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree, Texas OT licensure, BCLS, and 1–2 years in therapy settings; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred; PRN schedule with growth opportunities within the HCA Healthcare network.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from an accredited program as Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Licensed by Texas State Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
• BCLS certification.
• 1-2 years experience in any therapy setting.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care in active and passive exercise programs, ADL training, coordination, balance, endurance, cognition, work conditioning and splint fabrication under an OT.
• Complete documentation of patient’s chart, including daily progress notes and conference reports.
• Supervise technicians, students and volunteers as assigned.
• Communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary team on patient status, discharge plans, equipment needs and recommendations.
• Assist in quality assessment and improvement initiatives and comply with department policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate customer service/AIDET principles and comply with safety and regulatory standards.
