Job summary

Mercy in Missouri is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our inpatient team. You will support patient care under the supervision of an OT and provide treatments per department policy.

The role emphasizes documentation, education with the team, and care across ages from neonatal to geriatric. BLS certification is required, and licensure eligibility is needed to practice.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current licensure or eligibility to practice as OTA in the state.
• BLS certification is required and current.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial patient assessment under the direction of the OTR/L.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and continuing need for treatment.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per department policies.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records for documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department.
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs across age groups: neonatal to geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient according to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties observed as directed by the Inpatient PhysicalMedicine Supervisor.

Position Details:

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
Licensure: Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
Experience: One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
