Job summary

Mercy in Clayton, MO is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to support inpatient care. You will assist with patient assessments, document progress, and implement treatment plans under supervision, ensuring adherence to department policies.

Required is graduation from an OTA program, active OTA licensure or eligibility, BLS certification, and preferred 1 year of experience. Mercy offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, PTO, tuition support, and retirement

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
• Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in the state.
• One year of experience preferred; new graduates considered.
• BLS certification required and current.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial patient assessment under supervision and follow department policies.
• Document patient care progress and treatment needs per department policy.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per policy.
• Maintain progress notes and department records, including documentation and charges.
• Participate in departmental education initiatives.
• Demonstrate knowledge of care for neonatal to geriatric age groups.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient upon receiving direction from O.T.R./L. and according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment according to departmental policy.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient according to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties observed as directed by the Inpatient PhysicalMedicine Supervisor.

Position Details:

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
Licensure: Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
Experience: One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
