Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Inpatient Physical Medicine team in Missouri. You will assess patients, document progress, and administer therapeutic modalities under department policy.

The role supports care across age groups from neonatal to geriatric, with emphasis on education and teamwork. A current COTA license and BLS are required, with preference for 1 year experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current license or eligibility for licensure as a COTA in the state of practice.
• BLS certification required and current.
• One year of experience preferred; new graduates considered.
• Ability to work with diverse age groups from neonatal to geriatric.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under supervision and according to department policies.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and ongoing need for treatment.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per departmental standards.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient.
• Promote education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of special needs across age groups (neonatal to geriatric).
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment according to departmental policy.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient according to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties observed as directed by the Inpatient PhysicalMedicine Supervisor.

Position Details:

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
Licensure: Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
Experience: One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
