Job summary

Mercy in Missouri is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our inpatient team. You will assist with patient assessments, implement treatment plans, and document progress according to policy.

The role requires OTA program graduate, licensure or eligibility, BLS certification, and about one year of experience preferred. Mercy offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities to grow within a caring, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current license or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• BLS certification must be current.
• One year experience preferred, new graduates considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial patient assessment according to departmental policies and directions.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and continuing need for treatment.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per policy.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient.
• Promote education within the department.
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors across age groups (neonatal to geriatric).
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment according to departmental policy.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient according to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties observed as directed by the Inpatient PhysicalMedicine Supervisor.

Position Details:

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
Licensure: Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
Experience: One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
