Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for inpatient care in Missouri. You will assess patients, document progress, and administer therapeutic modalities per department policy.

Must graduate from an accredited OTA program with BLS certification. Licensure or eligibility in state of practice is required; 1 year of experience preferred, new grads considered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program.
• BLS certification required; licensure as OTA or eligibility in state of practice.
• One year experience preferred; new graduates will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial patient assessment per directions from Inpatient Physical Medicine team.
• Document patient care progression, progress notes, and treatment needs per policy.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatments as per departmental policies.
• Maintain progress notes and department records on each patient.
• Promote education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of needs across age groups: neonatal to geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient upon receiving direction from O.T.R./L. and according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment according to departmental policy.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient according to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties observed as directed by the Inpatient PhysicalMedicine Supervisor.

Position Details:

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
Licensure: Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
Experience: One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
