Job summary

San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Rehab team. The COTA will perform services planned and delegated by the Occupational Therapist, helping patients regain function after disease, injury, surgery, or loss of a body part.

The role requires an ACOTE-accredited OTA program, passing the national exam, and current California OT Board licensure with BLS.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from ACOTE-accredited program and passed the National OT Exam.
• Current License from the California Occupational Therapy Board is required.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients under supervision of an Occupational Therapist to promote participation in recovery.
• Provide care according to Rehab Department policies and procedures.
• Conserve resources and foster constructive department operations.

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) performs services planned, delegated, and is supervised by the Occupational Therapist, assists patients to prevent disability and aims toward the promotion of maximal patient and caregiver participation and responsibility for the recovery program following disease, injury, surgery or loss of a body part. COTA provides care according to Rehab Department policies and procedures and the application of treatment techniques in accordance with discipline specific designated practice act. Provides services to patients under physician's orders. Fosters a constructive and supportive approach to department operations. Understands economic constraints and practices are designed to conserve resources. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

Education

• Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from a school accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) and passed the National Occupational Therapy Exam approved by the Occupational Therapy Examining Committee of the State Board of Medical Quality Assurance required.

Licensure

• Current License from the Occupational Therapy Board of California
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Experience

• 1+ years of clinical experience highly preferred.
• Must have good interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Basic Computer Skills.
