Job summary

Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, NY is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team. You will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to deliver therapeutic interventions that help residents improve function, maintain independence, and achieve their highest level of performance.

The ideal candidate has an AAS in OTA, NY state license, and is committed to resident-centered care.

Qualifications

• Associate of Applied Science Degree from an OTA program approved by AOTA.
• New York State Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant license required.
• Newly licensed COTAs welcome to apply.
• Experience in skilled nursing facilities preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement occupational therapy treatment programs under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
• Assist with resident assessments and contribute to treatment planning within the COTA scope of practice
• Provide therapeutic interventions focused on improving functional abilities, ADLs, mobility, strength, and independence
• Monitor resident progress and communicate findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist
• Complete documentation, care plans, billing, and clinical records accurately and timely
• Educate residents, families, and staff on therapy techniques, adaptive equipment, and home exercise programs
• Train and support rehabilitation aides as assigned
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, discharge planning, and quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure residents receive prescribed therapy services and treatment minutes
• Perform additional duties as assigned
