HCLTech is seeking a Costing Engineer in San Jose, CA. The role focuses on should costing, value engineering, and coordinating with manufacturing and engineering teams to optimize costs for high-tech components.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in should costing, machining knowledge, and hands-on manufacturing experience. Familiarity with aPriori, SAP or PLM systems, and ECR/ECN processes is preferred. Excellent communication is required.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineer with 8+ years of experience in should Costing, Value Engineering and high-tech industries.
• Experience in manufacturing (Machining, Sheet Metal) and cost-focused projects.
• Knowledge of should costing techniques and fundamentals like Raw Material Costing, Machine and Tool Selection, Cycle Time calculation, Burden Rate Estimate.
• Knowledge of costing tools like aPriori is an added advantage.
• Experience in SAP or similar PLM system.
• Knowledge of Engineering Change Notifications and ECR/ECO/ECN processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Costing engineering tasks for mechanical components in semiconductor/high-tech environments.
• Coordinate with Shop floor and engineering teams to gather data for cost estimates.
• Apply should costing techniques including raw material costing and machine/tool selection.
• Support DFM considerations and cost optimization through design/process changes.
• Utilize SAP or PLM systems for data management and change controls.
• Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders and document cost analyses.

Role/Responsibilities

• Mechanical Engineer with 8+ years of experience in should Costing,Value Engineering, Semiconductor/High-tech/ Special purpose machine industry.
• Prior hands on experience in manufacturing (Machining,Sheet Metal. experience)
• Good knowledge of Should Costing Techniques and understanding of fundamentals like Raw Material Costing, Machine and Tool Selection, Cycle Time calculation, Burden Rate Estimate and knowledge of Secondary Processes.
• Knowledge of costing tools like aPriori is an added advantage.
• Minimum relevant experience of at least 8 years with strong capability to cost machining components.
• Knowledge of cutting parameters and tools used as well good understanding of various sheet metal processes.
• Knowledge on DFM is an added advantage.
• Manufacturing knowledge and co-ordination with the Shop floor and engineering team.
• Experience in SAP or similar PLM system.
• Knowledge of Engineering change notifications and implementing changes ECR/ECO/ECN.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range Minimum: $40.38 per hour

Pay Range Maximum: $55.00 per hour

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their work location, skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
