JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Under the direction of the Controller, the Cost/Financial Accountant is responsible for applying principles of cost and general ledger accounting to conduct studies and analysis providing detailed cost, business, and financial information. Additionally, this role is responsible for monitoring costing exceptions and working with peers to correct cost errors. The cost/financial accountant reports on these activities on a monthly basis in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.
• Establish various costing rates based on actual costs.
• Analyze departmental cost calculations and methods and provide recommendations to improve.
• Analyze department and part-level costing for significant or unusual areas and work with appropriate areas to correct / improve.
• Determine and set monthly alloy surcharge rates which are used for invoicing customers for changes in metal costs.
• Perform quarterly labor and overhead analysis and recommend updates on costing rates
• Be a significant contributor to the team that develops / refines the costing system and processes for current plant expansions.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations, prepare financial reports, and report out on findings
• Assist with the financial close process, which includes account analysis, preparing journal entries, updating various files / graphs and related financial reporting.
• Be involved with the year-end financial audit to prepare information and work with the auditors.
• Be responsible for ensuring all Capex documentation is accurately accounted for.
• Prepare various informational returns, census reports, and other ad hoc reports open request.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration or related field from a four-year college or university and up to 3 years practical experience in the accounting field. Should have general experience in preparing financial information, working in a business setting, and presenting information.
