Hill International is seeking a Cost Estimator V in Los Angeles, California
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field. A master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Certified estimating professional credential required.
- 20 years or more of general estimating experience directly related to both engineering and construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience with complex estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations.
- Experience in obtaining independent estimates from vendors/contractors and validating proposals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and industry practices.
- Self-starter with results-oriented focus.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to interact effectively across departments and work collaboratively.
- Customer service attitude with accuracy and timeliness.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with outside agencies such as FAA, LADBS, LADWP, etc.
- Flexibility to assume other duties as needed.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range is $170,000-$200,000, based on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities
- Prepare independent cost estimates during project phases.
- Review and develop detailed estimates from engineering drawings.
- Provide constructability reports and identify deficiencies.
- Reconcile estimates with third-party proposals and communicate findings.
- Analyze bids and determine factors influencing costs.
- Identify necessary field equipment and resources.
- Present estimates to management and stakeholders.
- Lead negotiation meetings with contractors and subcontractors.
- Prepare material take-offs and detailed component estimates.
- Evaluate historical cost data for future estimates.
- Review contract documents and modifications for scope and cost implications.
- Assess change order claims and negotiate resolutions.
- Conduct weekly review meetings and document outcomes.
- Ensure scope and pricing conformance with contractual obligations.
- Review quantities, pricing, and contractor mark-ups for fairness.
- Develop negotiation records and maintain project documentation.
- Coordinate with project management and engineering teams.
- Prepare reports and correspondence as required.
