Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Certified estimating professional credential required.
- 15+ years of general estimating experience related to engineering and construction projects.
- Experience managing a team of cost estimators.
- Proven experience with complex estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations.
- Experience obtaining independent estimates from vendors/contractors for comparison and negotiations.
- Thorough knowledge of construction processes and industry practices.
- Self-starter with results-oriented focus.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and work in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with agencies such as FAA, LADBS, LADWP, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, On-Screen Takeoffs, Bluebeam, and preferred knowledge of Prolog and other project management systems.
The salary range for this position is $150,000-$180,000, based on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities
- Prepare independent cost estimates during project planning, design, and construction phases.
- Review and develop detailed estimates from conceptual info and engineering drawings.
- Provide constructability reports and assist in developing credible cost budgets.
- Reconcile independent estimates with third-party estimates, engaging in collaborative discussions.
- Analyze bids and align them with estimates.
- Identify production factors influencing costs and necessary field equipment.
- Present estimates to management and stakeholders.
- Lead negotiations with contractors and subcontractors.
- Prepare material take-offs and detailed component breakdowns.
- Evaluate historical cost data for future estimates.
- Review contract documents and modifications for scope and cost appropriateness.
- Assess change order claims and negotiate resolutions.
- Conduct weekly review meetings and document discussions.
- Ensure scope and pricing accuracy, reviewing labor rates, quantities, and material costs.
- Maintain familiarity with contractual obligations and technical aspects of construction.
- Document negotiation points and develop independent cost estimates.
- Coordinate with project management and engineering teams throughout estimate development.
