Project: Airside
Client: Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA)
Salary: $150,000 - $160,000 per year plus benefits.
This position offers a hybrid/telework schedule: Telework on Monday and Friday; Onsite on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare Independent Cost Estimates to support projects during planning, design, and construction.
- Review and prepare final Engineer’s estimates considering Phasing, Airport Operations, Shift, Resources, Time Constraints, and Badging impacts.
- Develop detailed and independent cost estimates from conceptual info and engineering drawings.
- Prepare detailed estimates including labor hours, material costs, and equipment costs.
- Provide constructability reports to identify deficiencies and assist in developing credible cost budgets.
- Reconcile independent estimates with third-party estimates and communicate findings.
- Analyze bids from vendors, contractors, and subcontractors to align with estimates.
- Identify factors influencing the cost of work and necessary field equipment.
- Present estimates to management and stakeholders.
- Lead negotiation meetings with contractors and subcontractors.
- Review material take-offs from planning documents or drawings.
- Break down components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems.
- Evaluate and document historical cost data for future estimates.
- Review contract documents and modifications for scope and cost adjustments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of estimating experience in engineering and construction projects.
- Experience managing a team of estimators.
- Proven experience with complex estimate reconciliations and negotiations.
- Ability to obtain independent estimates from vendors and contractors for comparison and negotiation.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and industry practices.
- Self-starter with results-oriented attitude.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and work in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with agencies like FAA, LADBS, LADWP, etc.
Element-Specific Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with On-Screen Takeoffs and Bluebeam.
- Knowledge of Prolog and other Project Management Systems is preferred.
