Job summary

Amazon is hiring a Cost Estimator for its Store Development team to shape program-level cost baselines across multiple grocery store formats. You will work with design, construction, finance, and procurement, influencing executive insights and investment decisions at scale.

You will drive cost models, governance, and data quality across a 600+ location portfolio, partnering with GC and external consultants to deliver accurate cost data and proactive analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of cost management or construction cost management experience.
• Proficient in Excel and data analytics tools; experience with Power BI, Python, SQL, or Tableau.
• Experience with General Contractors and construction consultants on cost deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain program-level cost baselines across store formats and retail concepts, keeping financial models current as costs evolve.
• Execute portfolio-wide budget variance analyses and reconcile spend against baselines for active and completed projects.
• Support proforma updates as cost drivers shift, collaborating with design, construction, capital planning and procurement on trade-offs.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly cost performance data and analyses for leadership review and executive meetings.
• Engage with contractors and external consultants to gather cost data, validate assumptions, and support governance and cost validation processes.
• Support process improvements, governance, and controls within construction management systems to improve data quality and efficiency at portfolio scale.
• Contribute to AI and analytics strategy by gathering requirements and tracking impact of new platform implementations.
• Apply lessons learned to sharpen baselines and inform cost models for new formats and capital programs.
