Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Cost Estimator to join the Store Development team in Chicago, IL. You will build program-level cost baselines, analyze portfolio-wide cost drivers, and deliver executive-ready insights to guide large-scale grocery store expansion across North America.

You’ll work cross-functionally with design, construction, finance, procurement, and vendors, shaping tools and governance to improve data quality and cost accuracy at portfolio scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cost management, financial analysis, or construction cost management.
• Experience with advanced Excel and statistical analysis applications.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain program-level cost baselines across store formats and concepts.
• Execute portfolio-wide budget variance analyses and reconcile spend against baselines.
• Support proforma updates as cost drivers shift; collaborate with design, construction, capital planning, and procurement partners on trade-offs.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly cost performance data for leadership review.
• Engage directly with general contractors and consultants to gather cost data and validate assumptions.
• Support governance, data quality improvements, and cost-management system integrations.
• Contribute to AI/analytics strategy by gathering requirements and tracking platform impact.
• Apply lessons learned to sharpen cost baseline assumptions for new formats and programs.
