Position Overview

We’re seeking a full‑time, on‑site Cost Estimator with prior MTA‑LIRR estimating experience to support projects located in Babylon, New York. In this role, you will review design documents, propose specifications, assess risk and cost impacts required to develop the estimates and attend design development meetings as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop capital cost estimates for transportation/railroad projects.
• Review contractor proposals for various procurement types.
• Review and validate change orders.
• Interface with external clients in the presentation of capital costs.
• Maintain organized and detailed files, project records and logs.
• Attend project meetings as required.

Required Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Progressive and successful cost estimating experience in transportation projects.
• Experience in civil / structural projects.
• Proficient use of
• MS Office products,
• HCSS (HeavyBid) estimating software,
• Bluebeam.
• Good organization skills.
• Project experience with MTA‑LIRR.
• Willingness and ability to be on site.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or a related field.
• Substantial professional years of estimating and construction experience.
• Understanding of the relationship between cost, risk and schedule.

The base salary range is $100,000.00 to $118,000.00. Salary is determined by work location and additional factors.

Work Location and Requirements

Onsite employees are expected to attend a Jacobs workplace on a full‑time basis, as required by the nature of the role.
