Job summary

Kokosing is seeking a Cost Engineer in the Central Engineering group to drive cost management across projects. You will lead budget setup, track expenditures, develop standardized reports and forecasts, and support project teams with cost tracking and forecasting.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 2+ years in cost engineering or project controls, and strong Excel skills. Experience with construction cost systems (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Viewpoint, Procore) is

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in cost engineering, project controls, or construction accounting.
• Strong understanding of construction cost management principles and project workflows.
• Experience with cost management or project systems (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead project budget setup and cost structure development, including alignment with estimate data and company standards.
• Monitor and analyze project costs, commitments, and expenditures across multiple projects.
• Develop and maintain standardized cost reports, forecasts, and dashboards.
• Support project teams with budget setup, cost tracking, and forecasting processes when needed.
• Review subcontract, purchase order, and change order data for accuracy and consistency.
• Analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs and provide actionable insights.
• Assist with owner-required reporting and project-specific tracking requirements.
• Assist in developing and maintaining company-wide cost control procedures and tools.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and data reliability.
• Travel to project sites as needed to support project teams and implementation of processes.
