Job summary

Pengate Handling Systems is seeking a Cost Engineer / Estimator to develop accurate cost estimates and competitive commercial proposals for material handling and automation projects. You will collaborate with Sales, Applications Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and external suppliers to evaluate requirements and price packages.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of interpreting technical information, drawings, and equipment specs.

Qualifications

• Analytical thinking with ability to interpret technical drawings and project requirements.
• Detail-oriented with strong cost control and documentation skills.
• Experience coordinating with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Operations and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for material handling, warehouse automation, and integrated systems projects.
• Review customer requirements, layouts, and technical drawings to ensure accurate pricing.
• Estimate equipment, labor, engineering, software, installation, freight, travel, and subcontractor costs.
• Create and maintain internal costing models, estimating tools, pricing databases, and supporting documentation.
• Analyze project costs to identify risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options.
• Update estimates as project scopes evolve and align with profitability goals.
• Collaborate with Sales and Applications Engineering to develop customer-facing proposals.
• Prepare commercial cost summaries, pricing packages, and bid documentation.
• Assist in documenting project assumptions, exclusions, qualifications, and terms.
• Participate in internal proposal reviews and approvals.
