Job summary

Hearth & Home Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a focus on cost improvement to join our Fireplaces Business Unit in Mt. Pleasant, IA. You will lead automation initiatives, optimize processes, and partner with operations to drive measurable cost reductions and productivity gains.

This role demands strong CAD experience, Lean methods, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver scalable improvements across manufacturing workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 4+ years of manufacturing engineering, process improvement, or continuous improvement experience.
• Experience with CAD platforms Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Outlook).
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-impact initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs.
• Partner with Production, Operations, and NPD to drive improvements.
• Evaluate design changes in Creo and SolidWorks for production.
• Optimize product designs and processes for productivity and quality.
• Design and implement poka-yoke solutions to reduce defects.
• Identify and deploy automation to increase throughput.
• Lead cross-functional projects from concept to implementation.
• Analyze production data to uncover cost-reduction opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead high-impact initiatives that improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality across the facility.
• Partner with Production, Operations, and New Product Development teams to drive continuous improvement and manufacturability solutions.
• Evaluate engineering design changes in Creo and SolidWorks, ensuring seamless implementation into production.
• Optimize product designs, manufacturing processes, and workflows to improve productivity, quality, and scalability.
• Design and implement mistake-proofing (poka-yoke) solutions that reduce defects and improve customer satisfaction.
• Identify, develop, and deploy automation solutions that increase throughput, improve ergonomics, and support future growth.
• Lead cross-functional projects from concept through implementation, delivering measurable operational results.
• Analyze production data and manufacturing trends to uncover opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 4+ years of manufacturing engineering, process improvement, or continuous improvement experience.
• Experience with CAD platforms such as Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Project, and Outlook.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
