Job summary

Zachry Construction Corporation is seeking a Cost Engineer to support project teams with cost control, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting on heavy civil construction projects.

The Cost Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and other project personnel to monitor project costs, evaluate performance, identify trends, and provide accurate information to support sound business decisions.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both field and office personnel.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze project costs, commitments, budgets, forecasts, and actual expenditures.
• Assist project teams with developing and maintaining accurate cost forecasts throughout the project life.
• Track labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and other project-related costs.
• Analyze cost performance and identify trends, variances, risks, and potential impacts to project profitability.
• Prepare regular cost reports, forecasts, variance analyses, and other project controls reporting.
• Assist with establishing project budgets and cost codes and ensure costs are captured and allocated correctly.
• Support monthly project reviews and provide accurate cost information to leadership.
• Collaborate with accounting, project controls, estimating, and operations teams for consistency and accuracy.
