Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an ambitious Cost Controller to join our Life Science construction team in Houston. You will support large projects with cost control, budgeting, forecasting and monthly reporting.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, 5–7 years of experience, and proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project and Excel. This on-site role offers a dynamic environment and opportunities to influence program success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5-7 years of applicable experience.
• Advanced skills with spreadsheets, report writing and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Progress each project monthly to monitor project controls and data consistency.
• Manage cost control, including budget, forecasting, and actuals.
• Report earned value, milestones, and % complete with commentary.
• Attend status meetings and update forecasts per progress discussions.
• Summarize performance metrics and advise on cost-control issues.
• Interface with stakeholders as a trusted advisor on projects.
• Track change orders with project and cost-management teams.
• Produce monthly management reports and trends analysis.

Turner & Townsend are seeking an ambitious Cost Controller to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is an ambitious construction professional with experience supporting project controls cost on large construction projects or programs.

Responsibilities:

• Progress each project every month to ensure all projects are monitored for project controls in line with the monthly reporting cycle, checking accuracy and consistency of data.
• Manage cost control for the project including insight on budget, forecasting, whip in progress, actuals.
• Report milestones planned value and earned value data, % complete on projects and provide project commentaries.
• Attend project status meetings report on major material status; update forecast per progress discussion.
• Summarize project performance metrics and provide specialized direction and recommendation to project teams and management for the resolution of diverse project controls issues.
• Interface with project stakeholders as a trusted advisor to provide guidance and recommendations for the project.
• Track and review change orders with project management and cost management team.
• Produce monthly reports for management.
• Maintain record of scope changes, trends and variances that potentially affect performance.
• Maintain liaison with client and other consultants at all projects stages.
• Implement best practices and reporting trends both internally and externally.
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.
• Minimum 5-7 years of applicable experience
• Advanced skills with spreadsheets, report writing and presentations.
• Skilled in the use of industry accepted applications for cost, planning and progress measurement.
• Demonstrates a high level of self-organization, coordination and planning.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite of Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel
• Expertise using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
