Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an ambitious Cost Controller to join our growing team in Houston. The ideal candidate will support project controls for cost on major construction projects and programs, ensuring accurate monthly reporting cycles and robust forecasting.

Responsibilities include managing budgets, progress measurement, earned value reporting, and liaising with clients and consultants. Strong Excel, MS Project, and Primavera P6 skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5-7 years of applicable experience.
• Advanced skills with spreadsheets, report writing and presentations.
• Skilled in industry applications for cost, planning and progress measurement.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite of Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Progress each project monthly to monitor costs per the reporting cycle.
• Manage cost control including budget, forecasting, progress measurement, and actuals.
• Report milestones, planned value, earned value, and % complete with commentaries.
• Attend status meetings and update forecasts per progress discussion.
• Summarize performance metrics and advise on cost controls issues.
• Interface with stakeholders as trusted advisor on project guidance.
• Track and review change orders with project management and cost teams.
• Produce monthly management reports.
• Support contract administration, including retention, T&C, insurance, allowances, contingencies.
• Maintain liaison with client and other consultants across project stages.
• Implement best practices and reporting trends internally and externally.
• SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

Job description

Turner & Townsend are seeking an ambitious Cost Controller to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is an ambitious construction professional with experience supporting project controls cost on large construction projects or programs.

Responsibilities

• Progress each project every month to ensure all projects are monitored for project controls in line with the monthly reporting cycle, checking accuracy and consistency of data.
• Manage cost control for the project including insight on budget, forecasting, whip in progress, actuals.
• Report milestones planned value and earned value data, % complete on projects and provide project commentaries.
• Attend project status meetings report on major material status; update forecast per progress discussion.
• Summarize project performance metrics and provide specialized direction and recommendation to project teams and management for the resolution of diverse project controls issues.
• Interface with project stakeholders as a trusted advisor to provide guidance and recommendations for the project.
• Track and review change orders with project management and cost management team.
• Produce monthly reports for management.
• Contract Administration (retention, T&Cs, insurance, allowances, contingency, incentives).
• Maintain record of scope changes, trends and variances that potentially affect performance.
• Maintain liaison with client and other consultants at all projects stages.
• Implement best practices and reporting trends both internally and externally.
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates a high level of self-organization, coordination and planning.

• Expertise using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Excellent communication skills
