Job summary

LHH is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join our growing manufacturing organization in Maryland. You will own key cost accounting activities, including inventory costing, valuation, revenue recognition, financial analysis, and P&L support.

The ideal candidate has manufacturing experience and can improve processes with limited supervision. You will analyze product and inventory costs, monitor variances, and help ensure accurate reporting in line with US GAAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field is required.
• Experience in cost accounting within manufacturing is strongly preferred.
• Strong inventory costing knowledge and US GAAP reporting.
• Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own cost accounting processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Analyze product and inventory costs, variances, and expenses.
• Support inventory costing/valuation per US GAAP.
• Oversee revenue recognition and ASC 606 applications.
• Assist with P&L analysis and reporting of revenue, costs, margins.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization. This individual will take ownership of key cost accounting activities, including inventory costing and valuation, revenue recognition, financial analysis, and P&L support. The ideal candidate will have direct manufacturing industry experience and be comfortable working independently in an environment where they can improve processes and strengthen the company's overall cost accounting structure.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain cost accounting processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Analyze product costs, inventory costs, variances, and other manufacturing-related expenses.
• Support accurate inventory costing and valuation in accordance with US GAAP.
• Manage and support revenue recognition, including application of ASC 606.
• Assist with P&L analysis and ensure accurate reporting of revenue, costs, margins, and inventory-related activity.
• Support month-end close activities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and cost-related reporting.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and identify variances, trends, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Evaluate existing costing methodologies and help build, rebuild, or improve the company's cost structure.
• Partner with operational and finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost visibility.
• Participate in ERP implementation and system improvement initiatives as the organization transitions from its current accounting platform.
• Develop and improve accounting procedures, controls, and reporting processes.
• Take ownership of projects and accounting issues with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Prior cost accounting experience within a manufacturing company strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, including inventory valuation and costing.
• Experience with revenue recognition and ASC 606.
• Understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience supporting or owning components of the P&L.
• ERP implementation, conversion, or optimization experience is highly preferred.
• Comfortable working in a lean accounting environment where this position will have significant ownership and visibility.
