Job summary

NorthPoint Search Group seeks a Cost Accountant to own material costing for manufacturing operations, analyzing thousands of BOMs and explaining cost changes such as pricing moves, ECNs, or item changes.

You will provide material costs for planning under tight deadlines and continuously improve costing processes, delivering accurate numbers with initiative and precision.

The role requires a self-starter mindset to simplify workflows and drive cost insight across the organization.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of standard and moving average costing.
• Experience analyzing large BOMs and explaining cost changes.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to learn ERP/costing systems.

About the role

We're looking for a Cost Accountant to own material costing for our manufacturing operations. You'll work across thousands of bills of materials, each with thousands of parts. You'll spot cost changes quickly and explain what caused them, such as new price agreements, engineering change notices, or item change requests. During business planning, you'll provide material costs based on planned production, often under tight deadlines. We want a self-starter who will improve our current processes, make them simpler, and show where they can get better.

Must-haves

• Strong cost accounting background in a manufacturing environment
• Solid understanding of standard and moving average costing
• Experience analyzing large, complex BOMs and explaining cost changes (pricing, ECNs, item changes)
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to learn and work within an existing ERP/costing system
• A self-starter who improves processes and can deliver accurate numbers under deadline pressure
