Job summary

Staff Financial Group is seeking a Cost Accountant to own material costing for its manufacturing operations in Duluth, GA. You will analyze thousands of bills of materials and quickly explain cost changes caused by pricing, ECNs, or item changes while supporting planning with accurate material costs.

You’ll be a self-starter who improves existing costing processes, simplifies workflows, and identifies areas for cost optimization under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Strong cost accounting background in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of standard costing and moving average costing.
• Experience analyzing large BOMs and explaining cost changes (pricing, ECNs, item changes).
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to learn ERP/costing systems.
• A self-starter who improves processes and delivers accurate numbers under deadline pressure.

About the role

We're looking for a Cost Accountant to own material costing for our manufacturing operations. You'll work across thousands of bills of materials, each with thousands of parts. You'll spot cost changes quickly and explain what caused them, such as new price agreements, engineering change notices, or item change requests. During business planning, you'll provide material costs based on planned production, often under tight deadlines. We want a self-starter who will improve our current processes, make them simpler, and show where they can get better.

Must-haves

• Strong cost accounting background in a manufacturing environment
• Solid understanding of standard and moving average costing
• Experience analyzing large, complex BOMs and explaining cost changes (pricing, ECNs, item changes)
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to learn and work within an existing ERP/costing system
• A self-starter who improves processes and can deliver accurate numbers under deadline pressure
