Job summary

LHH is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to support large-scale, customized project work with strong financial oversight, cost tracking, and revenue recognition expertise in a manufacturing/engineering environment. You will partner with project teams and operational leaders to drive financial visibility, manage project budgets, track costs, and ensure accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience focused on cost accounting, project accounting, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of project cost tracking, job costing, and manufacturing accounting practices.
  • Hands-on experience applying ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance in contract- or project-based settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial lifecycle of assigned projects, including budget development, forecasting, cost monitoring, and profitability analysis.
  • Maintain accurate project accounting records by tracking labor, materials, subcontracted services, and indirect costs.
  • Collaborate with project and operational teams to validate project costs, identify financial risks, and proactively address budget variances.
  • Apply revenue recognition principles in accordance with ASC 606, ensuring revenue is recognized appropriately based on contract terms and project progression.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting documentation related to revenue recognition, financial reporting, audits, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate month-end project accounting activities, including reconciliations, variance investigations, and reporting deliverables.
  • Generate financial reports related to project revenue, backlog, forecasts, margins, and overall performance.
  • Analyze actual results versus budgets and forecasts, providing insight into trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partner with finance, engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure alignment between project execution and financial objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes, strengthen controls, and improve the effectiveness of project accounting procedures.

  • Knowledge of audit support processes, financial documentation requirements, and internal control practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
