Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting: general ledger, month-end, year-end close.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports.
• Oversee job costing, tracking budgets vs. actuals across projects.
• Maintain Work In Progress (WIP) schedules.
• Manage PO cycle from creation to invoicing and reconciliation.
• Monitor project costs: labor, materials, subcontractors, overhead.
• Assist payroll: job cost allocations and compliance with labor regulations.
• Prepare and review AIA billing documents (G702, G703).
• Collaborate with project managers for cost tracking and billing.
• Ensure GAAP and construction-specific accounting standards.

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant / Cost Accountant with a strong background in the construction industry. This role will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, job costing, budgeting, and ensuring accurate cost tracking across multiple construction projects. The ideal candidate brings both strategic insight and hands‑on expertise in construction accounting practices, including procurement and billing cycles.

Responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting processes, including general ledger, month‑end, and year‑end close
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
• Oversee job costing, tracking project budgets vs. actuals
• Manage and maintain Work In Progress (WIP) schedules
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the full Purchase Order (PO) cycle, from creation and approval through receipt, invoicing, and reconciliation
• Monitor project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead
• Assist with payroll operations, including job cost allocations and compliance with labor regulations
• Handle progress billing, including preparation and review of AIA billing documents (e.g., G702, G703)
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and billing
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and construction‑specific accounting standards
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Support audits and tax preparation processes

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
