Job summary

Reid State Community College is seeking a Cosmetology Instructor to deliver approved ACCS cosmetology curriculum across diverse formats and locations. The role includes planning, advising, and maintaining licensure-related records while supporting recruitment and student success.

The instructor will teach, evaluate, and document student progress, ensure safe salon practices, and participate in program assessment and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• A diploma, certificate, or other postsecondary credential in Cosmetology from an accredited institution is required.
• Three (3) years of successful full-time experience in the cosmetology field is required.
• A current Alabama cosmetology license in good standing is required.
• A current Alabama Cosmetology Instructor license in good standing is required.
• Ability to work effectively with students at varying skill and academic levels; communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and teach assigned Cosmetology courses in day, evening, weekend, online, dual enrollment, or off-campus locations.
• Maintain licenses, instructor credentials, and other professional qualifications.
• Teach courses per ACCS descriptions and program requirements; review syllabi with students.
• Prepare and maintain syllabi and course materials; outline attendance, safety, and conduct expectations.
• Provide effective classroom, lab, and salon instruction and supervise students during instructional hours.
