Job summary

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. is seeking a Microbiologist I to perform microbiology testing of raw materials, mass, and finished products in a QC laboratory environment in Melville, NY.

This role emphasizes GMP/GDP practices, environmental monitoring, and preparation of media and reagents, with data entry into LIMS/SAP. You will monitor critical control parameters, review lab documentation, and contribute to quality improvements while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 2-3 years of applicable work experience.
• Experience in a microbiology QC lab for a global consumer goods or pharmaceutical company.
• Knowledge of GMP, GDP and GLP and proficient in lab equipment (e.g., Autoclave, pH meter).
• Experience with environmental monitoring collection (Viable & Non-Viable Air, Surfaces, etc.).
• Strong communication to management; ability to write SOPs, deviations, change controls and OOS reports.

Responsibilities

• Execute QC lab testing (85%): monitor parameters (pH, balances), alert lab manager of out-of-trend events.
• Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, mass, and finished goods per SOPs.
• Prepare media and reagents for microbiology testing.
• Collect environmental monitoring samples (Viable & Non-Viable Air, Surfaces).
• Enter information in LIMS/SAP as required.
• Review laboratory documentation and manage supplies (10%).
• Collaborate on quality improvements and communicate findings to leadership (5%).
