Job summary

TC Energy seeks a multi-skilled USGO Corrosion/Pipeline/M&R Technician in Columbus, OH to maintain natural gas pipelines and related facilities. You will perform surveys, CP system maintenance, and data entry across SAP/BlueWorx and PCS, with travel to support field activities.

Ideal candidates have experience locating pipelines, SWA/LOTO knowledge, and ability to work with minimal supervision. DOT/regulatory responsibilities and on-call work are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience locating and marking subsurface pipeline infrastructure.
• Knowledge of SWA and LOTO procedures.
• Experience with DOT codes and ANSI/ASME standards preferred.
• Experience with SAP/BlueWorx data entry and PCS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct resistivity and potential surveys on pipelines and facilities.
• Check rectifiers and anode structures; determine efficiency.
• Maintain cathodic protection equipment and coatings.
• Locate pipelines and mark with paint/flags via One Call Center.
• Enter data into SAP/BlueWorx and PCS; create/update work orders.
• Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments.

of our natural gas pipelines and associated facilities.We are seeking an individual who possesses knowledge and experience with high-pressure natural gas pipelines and cathodic protection systems.This individual must be motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision, and possess excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.What You’ll DoConduct periodic resistivity and potential surveys on pipelines, compressor stations, and measurement and regulation facilities to determine corrosive areas and record performance of cathodic protection systemsCheck rectifiers and anode structures and determine operating efficiencyAssist in analyzing troublesome cathodic protection areas and recommend solutionsInstall interference bonds in cooperation with other companiesAssist in conducting current requirement tests for new ground bed installationMaintain cathodic protection equipmentConduct close interval surveys in small segments and oversee close interval surveys performed by contractorsDetect and repair shorted road casingsCheck electrolysis bonds and conduct potential surveys on protected high-pressure linesAtmospheric corrosion mitigation, surface preparation and coating application inspectionsInternal corrosion related sampling activities (liquid sampling, coupon removal/installation, etc.)Maintain RMU units installed on rectifiersParticipate in PHMSA and regulatory inspectionsAssist and lead contractors during CP constructionTroubleshoot, operate, maintain, calibrate, and repair various types of electronic equipmentDiagnose malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components using test equipment and hand tools to identify the cause of breakdowns and correct discrepanciesTest electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmetersReceive and maintain equipment documentation (blueprints, schematics, line diagrams, technical manuals, operation manuals, etc.) and serve as the facility technical resource in their review and useLocate pipelines through the One Call Center and visually mark subsurface pipeline infrastructure with paint, flags, and permanent line markersComplete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc in SAP/BlueWorx, and create routes and enter data in PCSOversee and manage pipeline or utility crossings and encroachments, coordinating all work around facilities with landowners, contractors, and customersComplete required Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company documentationPerform pipeline maintenance activities such as leak repairs, clearing and inspection of right-of-way, and assisting with tie-ins of mainline valves and pipeline segmentsPatrol pipeline right-of-way and conduct leak surveysOperate company truck and equipmentPlan, coordinate, and perform mechanical maintenance activities, to include routine corrective maintenance, leak repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment and system improvements, and major maintenance projectsTroubleshoot, operate, and maintain large and small diameter valves and operators, and other auxiliary equipmentPerform other required tasks, including various duties at compressor stations and measurement and regulation stationsMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentDemonstrated work experience in a related industryExperience locating and marking subsurface pipeline infrastructureThorough understanding of stop work authority (SWA) and safe work practicesKnowledge and understanding of lockout/tagout (LOTO) proceduresExperience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related softwarePreferred QualificationsExperience reading, comprehending, and applying DOT codes and ANSI/ASME standardsKnowledge of the installation of impressed current ground beds and rectifiers2 to 3 years of experience performing test point surveys with a field data logger, such as a MESA tablet or similar deviceExperience with pneumatic and electronic valves, transmitters, switches, and regulatorsAbility to interpret technical reference documentsExperience with Allen Bradley and/or Bristol
