Valkyrie Enterprises in Oahu, Hawaii seeks a Corrosion Control Specialist to support naval and commercial ships.

You will perform coatings, surface prep, and painting in accordance with NAVSEA standards, working from drawings with limited supervision.

This on-site role requires safety training, ability to work in confined spaces, and teamwork with shipyard personnel; benefits include health and 401k options.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or trade school with work experience.
• Strong knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and control methods.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and leadership abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of painting techniques and materials.
• Experience in painting or a related field.
• Knowledge of different types of paint and their applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform corrosion control and preservation on Naval Vessels in tanks, compartments and hulls.
• Prepare all types of surfaces for preservation.
• Remove old paint and debris from substrates by scraping, chipping, and sanding.
• Apply coatings in accordance with specifications and good marine practice.
• Brush and Roll painting to pass all inspection processes.
• Perform Confined Space Attendant duties with safety procedures.
• Work from drawings and manuals and receive instructions on routines and complex tasks.
• Use basic hand tools and equipment for corrosion and coating applications.
• Multitask and meet critical deadlines.
