Floyd County Board of Commissioners in Rome, GA seeks a Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Corrections to perform skilled automotive maintenance for the county's vehicle fleet and related equipment.

The role includes supervising inmates during service tasks, conducting preventive maintenance, completing logs and work orders, and ensuring safety and security.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma and 2 years in automotive maintenance and obtain P.O.S.T. certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in automotive maintenance.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid P.O.S.T. certification for Correctional Officers within twelve (12) months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inmates assigned to the service truck; monitors inmate activities to ensure security; instructs inmates on proper work techniques; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment (such as pumping fuel into vehicles, checking/replacing fluid levels, draining/replacing oil, changing/replacing filters, lubricating mechanical parts, replacing belts/hoses, checking batteries, adjusting brakes and clutches, greasing equipment, flushing radiators, etc)
• Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep tools and equipment in good working condition; reports faulty equipment for repair.
• Maintains inventory of service truck equipment, tools and supplies; initiates requests for new or replacement materials.
• Prepares and receives various forms, reports, logs, work orders, requisitions, or other documentation.
