Floyd County Board of Commissioners is seeking a Correctional Officer, Detail to oversee offender work details and maintain security for assigned operations.

You will supervise crews, enforce rules, conduct headcounts, and respond to emergencies while ensuring safety at work sites. Qualifications include a high school diploma, two years in road construction/maintenance or related fields, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain Georgia PST certification within one year.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in road construction/maintenance or related field.
• Valid driver's license required; must obtain Georgia Correctional Officer PST certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and guards offender(s) on assigned work details; enforces facility rules and conducts headcounts.
• Oversees work crews; assigns duties, trains on techniques, and inspects completed work.
• Ensures safety and security of work sites by enforcing procedures and directing traffic.
• Responds to inmate needs and emergencies; assists with meals, first aid/CPR, and medical coordination.
• Operates transportation of offender(s) and equipment under varying conditions.
• Performs manual labor related to construction/maintenance and basic fabrication tasks.
• Conducts vehicle/equipment maintenance and logs documentation.
• Communicates with supervisors and staff; prepares reports and participates in training.
