Job summary

Department of Corrections (DOC) in Everett, WA, seeks two non-permanent Corrections and Custody Officer 2 (CO2) roles in the Transportation Unit. Positions run 12 months, Monday–Friday 7:00 am–3:00 pm, with scheduling per unit needs, located in Everett.

Requirements include at least one year as a DOC Corrections and Custody Officer, a valid driver’s license, firearms qualifications and use-of-force certifications, respirator requirements, and the ability to de‑escalate and communicate

Qualifications

• At least one (1) year experience as a DOC Corrections and Custody Officer, including successful completion of the Correctional Officer training plan.
• Valid, unrestricted driver's license.
• Carry a firearm, Taser, OC, and wear a protective vest while on duty.
• Must wear a respirator and remain clean shaven in the respirator fit area with medical clearance.
• Must have firearms qualifications and use of force equipment certifications.
• Must be lawfully able to possess a firearm.
• Use control and impedance tactics as needed to control a resistive individual.

Responsibilities

• Transport offenders, in custody and out of custody, with and without restraints.
• Verify offender identity and destination prior to transports and releases.
• Pat-search and restrain as needed; secure inventory of personal property.
• Seize dangerous items and contraband; search vehicles for contraband.
• Monitor offender activities and movement; complete transport documentation.
• Arrange repairs with vehicle maintenance shops and drive safely following traffic laws.
• Apply professional authority and de-escalation techniques; communicate with offenders and staff.
• Assist in booking/release processes and coordinate with jail/prison staff.
• Complete administrative duties and incident/disciplinary reports.
