Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky's Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Corrections Training Instructor/Coordinator I to deliver and develop training programs for staff across facilities. This role requires leading curriculum development, research, and in-service training to improve safety, compliance, and youth outcomes.

The position is full-time, executive branch, with travel statewide and potential telecommuting as described.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a college or university.
• Two years of experience in corrections or education.
• Graduate study may substitute for experience; experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Provides research, curriculum development and instruction in correctional security, treatment, legal issues, operations, health and safety areas and other related areas.
• Develops instructional materials, lesson plans and other curriculum for Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) training.
• Plans and organizes training events for DJJ staff.
• Provides input into the development of annual training plans in facilities, calendars and other training documents.
• Provides in-service training and academy training.
• Submits training and progress reports and provides feedback regarding staff training performance.
• Completes all related documentation as required.
• Certification will be required and maintained for multiple training courses.
