Job summary

131 Department of Corrections is seeking a Correctional Training Officer to develop and conduct specialized staff training at facilities or academies. You will evaluate training needs, prepare curricula, and deliver classroom and workshop sessions.

The role requires knowledge of training principles, strong communication skills, and the ability to work at correctional facilities. On-site work is required, with opportunities to supervise training teams and coordinate programs across divisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; substitution rules apply.
  • Master's degree in adult education or human resource development can substitute for experience; Level II requires 1 extra year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts job analyses and assessments to evaluate training needs and develops curriculum; creates lesson plans, manuals, videos, and graphics.
  • Conducts classroom training, workshops or seminars to increase knowledge and skills across topics.
  • Prepares training reports and maintains training records for participants.
  • Schedules and coordinates training sessions and locations.
  • Supervises other training officers in planning and conducting correctional training programs.
  • Coordinates department or division training or organizational development programs.
