Job summary

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Criminal Justice Technician 2 position at the Ketchikan Correctional Center in Ketchikan, Alaska. You will verify prisoner time accounting, assist with bookings, and support the Electronic Monitoring program.

This role supports Correctional Officers and operations staff, with emphasis on integrity, computer skills, interpersonal and written/oral communication, and strong problem-solving and reasoning abilities.

Qualifications

• Competency-based minimum qualifications govern this role and assess KSAs for success.
• Key competencies include integrity, computer skills, interpersonal and written/oral communication, problem solving, and reasoning.
• Equivalent combinations of education and/or paraprofessional or professional experience in related fields are acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Verify and certify the accuracy of prisoner time accounting and assist with prisoner bookings.
• Assist with the Electronic Monitoring (EM) program as needed.
• Process and assist with prisoner mail.
• Review and approve prisoner commissary items.
• Maintain all facility training schedules and track yearly certifications.
