This position serves as an assistant to the Program Manager in planning, directing, and administering the statewide case management program under the Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision (ICAOS) for the State of Louisiana. This position works with all states participating in the ICAOS national system, 21 district offices, and other agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in administrative services; OR
  • Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
  • A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties And Other Information
  • Assists with ensuring the Division and Department comply with all requirements of ICAOS case management, including compact, state, and federal laws.
  • Assists with maintaining contact with interstate and intrastate offices regarding the status of all probationers and parolees supervised under the Interstate Compact Agreement, taking appropriate action when needed.
  • Reviews transfer requests from DOC institutions to ensure all criteria and eligibility requirements are met for Interstate Compact transfers.
  • Completes and monitors transfer requests and incoming/outgoing Emergency Reporting Instructions for cases, which includes obtaining all required documentation.
  • Reviews all supervised cases from other states and makes independent decisions regarding case management provided by other states as it relates to the Interstate Compact. Responds to violation reports, Compact Action Requests, progress reports, requests for reporting instructions, and case closures within the timeframes established by ICAOS rules.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and determines requirements for investigative and supervisory assistance on interstate and intrastate correspondence, forwarding the same for appropriate action by district or headquarters staff.
  • Requests and prepares documentation for all cases under the Interstate Compact Agreement, including obtaining warrants, determining alternatives to incarceration, detaining supervised individuals, preparing for preliminary hearings, and preparing activity reports.
  • Obtains all required documentation from in-state and out-of-state jurisdictions to ascertain new convictions or violations to forward to the appropriate governing authority.
  • Enters data into all databases relevant to case supervision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This position will work for and support the Probation and Parole Program Managers and Corrections Support Specialist Supervisor.
Appointment Type

PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

  • Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
  • An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
  • This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Compensation

This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

  • Corrections Support Specialist 1 has an SER of $17.34 per hour
  • Corrections Support Specialist 2 has an SER of $18.55 per hour
  • Corrections Support Specialist 3 has an SER of $21.23 per hour
