Job summary

East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Meridian, MS, operated by Management & Training Corporation, is seeking a program professional to implement and maintain an effective alcohol and other drug abuse program in compliance with ACA, MTC, and MDOC directives.

The role emphasizes staff training, coordination with community resources, and development of health services procedures to support inmates and staff in preventive and educational activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, criminology or related field.
• Two (2) years of substance abuse treatment experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license in the state of Mississippi with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a system to promote coordination and integration of substance abuse prevention with other facility programs.
• Assess inmates with identified substance abuse problems; develop and implement a plan to modify behavior.
• Ensure documentation of assessments and plans in inmates' medical records.
• Provide ongoing comprehensive training for all staff in the substance abuse area.
• Assist in providing substance abuse materials and information in health education programs and procedures.
• Conduct substance abuse and tobacco cessation classes and related sessions.
• Encourage awareness of substance abuse issues throughout the facility.
• Develop linkages with community resources for substance abuse services.
• Promote positive social skills through modeling and intervention.
• Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
