Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a CORRECTIONAL OFFICER SERGEANT at Apalachee Correctional Institution. This internal promotional opportunity requires current FDC employees. Duties include supervising inmate housing, enforcing rules, transporting inmates, and conducting head counts.

The role includes crisis intervention, security inspections, and emergency response responsibilities. Minimum qualifications include 18+, US citizen, HS diploma or equivalent, completion of basic recruit

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Be a citizen of the United States.
• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida.
• Must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months.
• Must not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months.
• Must not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inmates commensurate with risk level and manages housing areas.
• Enforces rules, sanitation standards, and escorts inmates per policy.
• Transports inmates with approved restraints and observes laws and procedures.
• Performs head counts, maintains custody and control outside secured perimeter.
• Possesses emergency response capabilities including CPR and first aid.
• Directs officers in supervising inmates and maintaining location counts and reports.
