Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Be a citizen of the United States.
• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida.
• Must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months.
• Must not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months.
• Must not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inmates commensurate with level of risk; enforces rules and sanitation standards.
• Transports inmates using approved restraints and maintains custody outside/inside the secured perimeter.
• Conducts accurate head counts; inventories inmate property and issues receipts.
• Performs crisis intervention; uses approved force; wears body armor.
• Maintains facility security; conducts searches and inspections of areas.
• Provides emergency assistance during emergencies, disasters and accidents; CPR and first aid.
• Directs Officers in supervising housing units and work details; prepares reports.
• Attends mandatory training and performs other related duties.
