Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Be a citizen of the United States.
• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have completed basic recruit training for correctional officers and one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida.
• No suspension within past 12 months; no involuntary demotion within 24 months.
• No rating below 3.00 in past 3 fiscal years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inmates according to risk level; manages housing areas; enforces rules and sanitation standards.
• Transports inmates using restraints; conducts head counts and maintains custody outside secured perimeter.
• Performs crisis intervention; uses force when required; wears body armor and carries weapons.
• Maintains facility security; conducts searches and inspects for contraband; monitors inmate behavior.
• Directs officers in supervising inmates in housing units and work details; prepares reports.
