Job summary

State of Florida's Department of Corrections is seeking a SES (Selected Exempt Service) professional for the Classification Department at Suwannee Correctional Institution. The role focuses on accurately assessing inmates, housing, and program placements to enhance safety and rehabilitation.

The position requires reporting to the local FDC office, not telework, and involves handling affidavits, court testimony, and transfer of inmate files while ensuring compliance with policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Must possess a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• A minimum of two (2) years' experience at the Florida Department of Corrections.

Responsibilities

• Verify and calculate tentative release dates to align with commitment papers and statutes.
• Prepare release documents and verify final release dates with necessary authorizations.
• Maintain accurate data in the inmate information system and assist training of new staff.
• Manage daily inmate records including cell changes, work assignments, disciplinary reports, and sentence modifications.
• Prepare affidavits, testify in court, coordinate inter-state detainer actions, and supervise transfer of inmate files.
