Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections seeks a Correctional Sentence Technician-F/C at Apalachee Correctional Institution to ensure the accuracy of sentencing documents, calculate jail time credits, and update commitment records. You will verify data, resolve discrepancies with legal authorities, and maintain detailed records of sentence adjustments.

This on-site role requires collaboration with court staff and alignment with regulatory requirements; reporting to the Classification Department.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Review sentencing documents and apply relevant laws and case rulings to ensure accurate sentence structures and release date calculations.
  • Verify and update inmate records by checking automated calculations, manually computing jail time credits, and ensuring all data is accurate in the system.
  • Communicate with legal and law enforcement agencies to resolve discrepancies in sentencing documents and clarify conflicts with laws or case rulings.
  • Maintain detailed records of sentence adjustments, follow up on missing documents, and ensure proper processing of new or updated commitments.
  • Process new commitments by determining if they require a new or existing inmate number, make necessary changes to sentence structures, and notify the Central Office of updates.

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Apalachee Correctional Institution in the Classification Department.

The purpose of the Correctional Sentence Technician is to ensure the accuracy and integrity of inmate sentencing records by reviewing and updating commitment documents, calculating jail time credit, correcting identification errors, collaborating with legal and court staff, and documenting post-release supervision violations for proper accountability and compliance.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
