Job summary

DHRM is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse for Sussex State Prison. The role offers an enhanced hourly rate and requires a Virginia RN license and BLS certification.

Nurses will provide adult care using standard nursing processes, document care in health records, and collaborate with other departments to meet institutional needs. • Virginia RN license (unrestricted) required; NCLEX scheduling if recent graduate.
• Current BLS certification required (AHA/ARC).

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within adult institutions using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Document health records, ensure confidentiality, and coordinate with other departments as needed.
• Cover assignments as needed within the wage program and ensure coverage does not exceed 29 hours per week.
• Understand that this is a wage position with an enhanced hourly rate during staffing shortages.
